The annual Guppy Gala in the first week of Grade 8 is always a massive success and the talking point this year was the talent coming across the borders from Swaziland and Botswana. The talent in the junior groups should see Uplands as a very competitive outfit for years to come.

Our annual trip to Johannesburg for the St Peter’s night gala again proved critical to our Inter-high preparations and this year saw Uplands push into third position out of seven schools for the first time. The trip includes an intensive training session at the Wahoo Aquatics Centre at St Peter’s. Their professional coaches and trainers put our swimmers through rigorous sessions of stroke correction, dives, starts and land training.

Uplands will host an International training camp in the October holidays prior to the Annual Top Schools gala. This will include clubs and schools from Swaziland, Mozambique, Botswana and Johannesburg.
