Nic
Adams -
Chairman of the Uplands College Board
Born
in Kimberley in 1959. Schooled at Diocesan
College (Bishops), Cape Town, then UCT
for B.Comm (Hons) and a CA (SA) articled
to Deloitte. Travelled intermittently,
then worked in Johannesburg with Deloitte
Consulting, the Hollard Group and African
Bank. Currently has investments in a
number of owner-managed businesses and
is a Director of African Bank. Married
to Sue, with two children at the College,
Shelley and Chris. The family relocated
from Johannesburg to the Lowveld in
2007, after spending a year cruising
in the Indian Ocean. Nic’s interests
include travel, wildlife, sailing, mountain
biking, flying, fishing and volleyball.

Japhet
Deputy Chairman of Hollard Insurance and
Life Companies. Born on 12 November 1955.
Married to Jetje with two daughters, Antoinette
and Caitlin who both Matriculated from
Uplands and a son, Duncan, who is just
starting out at the Prep. Sporting interests
are cycling, squash, golf, tennis and
fishing.

Yvonne Nkwenkwezi (Pinky) Phosa
Born
04 September 1956. Has worked in the
public sector for over 18 years in
various portfolios. Currently Mpumalanga's
MEC of Finance, Chairperson of the
ANC Provincial Women's League, Member
of the NEC/NWC ANC Women's League
and Convenor of the Mpumalanga Chapter
of the Progressive Women Movement
of South Africa. Patron of the South
African Council for Business Women,
the provincial South African Women
Lawyers' Association and provincial
Cancer Association. Has Certificates
in Economics and Public Finance and
in Business Management, as well as
a Masters Degree in Public Administration
and a BA degree in Social Work. Has
received the Tuks Alumni Laureate
Award by the University of Pretoria
and the Achiever Award by the Lowveld
Chamber of Business. Has honorary
citizenship in Calgary, Canada. Is
married to Matthews. They have three
children and one grandchild.

Goss -

film production entrepreneur. Born: Johannesburg
1958. Attended St John's College and then
UCT BSc (Zoology/Geology). BSc (Hons)
and MSc (Zoology) from Pretoria University.
Research experience in Antarctica. Produced
wildlife documentaries in Southern Africa
for 15 years. Founded and managed a production
company making films for international
clients. International awards include
an Emmy nomination for photography. Wound
down filming activities to establish Uplands
College full-time after overseeing the
expansion of the Prep campus to accommodate
doubled pupil numbers. Married to Karen.
Two children, Jeremy and Kate, who matriculated
from the college. Enjoys wildlife, flying,
trout fishing and ... life! |

Mrs
Theresa Tendaupenyu
Born
26 August 1966. Married to Wesley, have
three children, Rumbi who matriculated
from Uplands last year, now at UCT.
Wawa who is currently in Gr 8 at Uplands
College and Wesley Junior who is in
Gr 0 at the Prep. My highest qualification
is an MBA from Mancosa. Worked for different
institutions in Zimbabwe, the UK and
South Africa. Currently the Managing
Director and owner of Nothesa Group
which employs about 400 people and with
offices in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng.
Member of the South African Business
Women Association and also a board member
of Ulendo Travel Agency. |

Gill
Morris
Born
in South Africa on 07 March 1946. Married
to Stuart. Three married sons and six
grandchildren all living in Johannesburg.
A life long educator with over 30 years
of teaching experience in the UK and South
Africa. Involved at St Andrew’s
School for Girls, Senderwood, Johannesburg
for 28 years in various capacities –
subject specialist for maths and geography
for the senior school and Gr 7; liaison
person between sponsors and all school
bursary recipients; founded St Andrew’s
Outreach Foundation in 1990 (including
securing funding) involving a Saturday
School, Heads of Primary Schools and teacher
development, a mobile library serving
32 Daveyton primary schools; and served
as a Board member at St Andrew’s
for 7 years. Currently a member of the
Alexandra Education Trust sub committees
for the selection of Gr 7 pupils to receive
sponsorship for senior school & the
mentorship of these pupils. Hobbies and
other interests include travel, walking,
the bush and birding, a reader for 22
years for Tape Aids for the Blind for
tertiary educational requirements for
blind students.

Hemus
Born in Johannesburg
in 1962 and attended Uplands Prep and
St Alban’s College. Travelled overseas
before embarking on a career in banking
at Nedbank, Standard Bank and Investec.
BComm from Unisa. Moved to the Lowveld
in 2003 to join Uplands College as Business
Manager. Resigned in 2008 and is currently
a Business and Life Coach based in White
River. Married to Liduina and has a daughter,
Claudia, in Grade 6 at Uplands Prep. Sports
include mountain biking, yoga and golf.
Is chairman of the Finance, Remuneration
and Bursary Committees of the Uplands
College Board. |

Clarke - College Headmaster
Appointed
Headmaster in 2004. Previously Headmaster
of U-Tech College in Swaziland and Business
Manager at Sisekelo High School and Mananga
College. His passion is technology, particularly
the school administration system which
he developed. Married to Elsa and they
have four children. Robert, Jennifer and
Monica who all matriculated from the College,
and Emily who is still at the College. |
